CLAXTON: Alice M. Rogers, 85, born in St. Catherine, FL, passed away Sunday August 23, 2020. Alice was always easily moved to laughter and to love. She was blessed with the gifts of hospitality and generosity. She loved nothing more than to unite people around a bountiful table. If you visited her she would never let you leave empty handed, whether it was a plant she shared, grapes, good food or simply a warm hug and lots of love. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. The comfort for those left behind is that she is reunited with all of her loved ones that predeceased her, including her husband Joe M. Rogers who she missed every day. Surviving Alice, are her three stepchildren and their spouses; Richard (Sue) Rogers, Jay (Donna) Rogers, Terri (Bill) McCall, and four grandchildren, Jennifer, Kathryn, Emma and Will Alice was also survived by her beloved “Big Brother” J.C. Merritt of Titusville FL and her nieces and nephews. Graveside Services were held Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Bull Creek Church Cemetery with Rev. Ron Ross officiating. Prior to Alice’s passing due to COVID 19, she voiced her concern to protect her friends and family from exposure, therefore we honored her, but sadly by doing so, we could not share with all that loved her the opportunity to gather and say goodbye. Alice was a great proponent of “random acts of kindness “ so in her memory, if and when an opportunity may present itself, do a kindness in her name or if you desire, contribute to a charity or Church of your choosing.
