CLAXTON: Anne Durrence Strickland, 95, passed away July 30, 2016, at her residence, under the care of Affinis Hospice of Vidalia. The Tattnall County native resided in Evans County for most of her life. She was a member of Daisy United Methodist Church, where she served on multiple committees. She was a caterer for a number of years, but she mostly was a homemaker, enjoying needle work and gardening with her African Violets. Anne loved to entertain, loved a good joke, had a great sense of humor and was always there for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Virgil Strickland; parents, Thomas Gordon and Lannie Belle Easterling Durrence; and sisters, Mildred Waters, Helen (Bud) Hodges, Frances Smith and Pat Waters.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Michael (Mace) Strickland of Winder, GA., and Wayne (Janice) Strickland of Claxton; one daughter, Macy (David) Warnell of Claxton; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: Monday, August 1, 2016, 5-7:00 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Tuesday, August 2, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Daisy United Methodist Church in Daisy, GA.
