Bennitt George Walker, Sr., age 77, of Marietta, Georgia passed away December 3, 2017. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta with Rev. Mike Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta , Georgia.
Bennitt was a native of McRae, GA and spent most of his life in Savannah, and Claxton, GA before moving to Marietta two years ago. He retired from the Atlanta Gas Light Company after 32 years of service. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Claxton, GA. A past member of the Evans County Wildlife Club. A Master Mason with Solomon's Lodge #1 in Savannah, GA. Bennitt loved to spend time with family and friends, especially spending time and fishing with his grandsons.
Survivors include: wife of 54 years: Marie Walker of Marietta, GA; Son: Bennitt (Kim) Walker, II of Marietta, GA; daughters: Lisa (Derrick) Jones of McDonough, GA and Teresa (Thor) Wayman of Claxton, GA; Grandsons: Bennitt, III and Benjamin Walker, Gregory Jones and Christopher Warren; brother: Elmer (Faye) Walker of Richmond Hill, GA; sister-in-law: Jean Walker of Richmond Hill, GA and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bennitt Walker, Sr.'s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
