Carl Ward Godbee

CLAXTON: Carl Ward Godbee, 76, passed away at his home September 13, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. He was a native of Tattnall County and graduated from Claxton High School in 1956. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service and then made his home in Effingham County. Mr. Godbee was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Vermell Godbee and two brothers, Johnny and Aubrey Godbee.


SURVIORS: wife, Becky Godbee of Bloomingdale; one son, Carl Gregory Godbee of Bloomingdale; two daughters, Tammy (Chris) Pearson of Ailey and Carla (Greg) Davis of Reidsville; two step- children, Peggy Cone and Vickie Hendrix both of Bloomingdale; five grand-children and five great-grand-children; two sisters in-law, Editha and Mary Godbee; and several nieces and nephews.


VISITATION: Wednesday September 16, 2015 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral.


FUNERAL: Wednesday September 16, 2015 2:00 p.m. at J.Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.


BURIAL: Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Glennville Georgia.
