CLAXTON: Charles Fountain Sutton Jr., 82, passed away October 31, 2016, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. He was a native of Bell Arthur, North Carolina but had lived in Evans County for a number of years. He came here with the tobacco industry, was involved in farming and later he built three hotels, Huddle Houses and several restaurants in Claxton.
SURVIVORS: wife, Barbara Ann Sutton of Claxton; children, Charles Fountain (Selma Sue) Sutton, III, of Fountain, N.C., Sandra Faye (Terry) Bonner of Farmville, N.C., Mary Ann Sutton of Farmville, N.C., Chris Sutton of Kite, GA., Charles Franklin (Sharon) Sutton of Kite, GA., and Charlene Sutton (Tim) Anderson of Goldsboro, N.C.; step-son, Jon Ira (Prescilla) Dillard of Sardis, GA.; two step-daughters, Debra Ann (Rick) Rountree of Claxton, GA., and Kelly Marie (Anthony) LeCroy of Claxton, GA; brother, Phillip Sutton of Bell Arthur, N.C.; sister, Stella Ann Thurston of Summerville, S.C.; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: Friday, November 4, 2016 1:00-2:00p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Graveside, Friday, November 4, 2016 2:00 p.m. at Family Cemetery with Rev. Charles Fountain Sutton, III officiating.
