OBITUARY
CLAXTON: CPO Clyde Gerald Stanek, 79, passed away February 1, 2015, at East Georgia Regional Emergency Room. The Spokane, Washington native resided in Evans County for approximately 15 years. He served in the US Navy and Naval Reserve for a total of 22 years before retiring. He then became a commercial pilot for an additional 18 years retiring from Southern Air Transport. He was a member of the Glennville United Methodist Church and the Evans County Wildlife Club.
Mr. Stanek was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Stanek.
SURVIORS: his wife, Gail Burnham Stanek of Claxton; two daughters, Toni Stanek (Phil) of Atlanta, and Cristi (Mark) Franklin of Chicago; two step-daughters, Kim Lee of Meldrim and Carla Lee of St. Simons Island; one step-son, Lewis Lee of Bluffton, S.C.; one brother, Ted (Debbie) Stanek of Hillsborough, OR.; one sister, Kathy (Randy) Strickland of Gearhart, OR; three grandchildren and one step-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: Thursday, February 5, 2015, 1-2:00 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Thursday, February 5, 2015, 2:00 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Glennville, GA.
