CLAXTON: Darla Kay Harrelson passed away on August 21, 2021 at the age of 59 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will strive to honor her memory by living their lives to the fullest. Darla was born on July 25, 1962 in Jeff Davis County. Darla went to school in Bryan County and spent much time in Chatham County and Jeff Davis before making her residence in Evans County.
The simplest pleasures in life, such as gardening, reading, and helping and giving to others brought the greatest joy to Darla. To know her was to love her. She could often be found with an open door and loving arms. Darla could really see the world through "rose colored glasses". She was always thinking of others first.
Darla was the true definition of a devoted mother. She loved her children more than any simple pleasure in life Darla never had much but she made sure her home was full of love and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her son, T. Matthew Harrelson, Parents, Richard and Gertie Burnsed also Glenda Wood; brothers, Steve Edenfield, Glenn Burnsed, Sr. and brother, Pauly Edge.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Michael Harrelson of Rincon, Ga., and Josh (Heather) Harrelson of Claxton, Ga.; daughter, Robin McCullough of Claxton, Ga.; step-mother, Barbara Burnsed of Statesboro, Ga.; three grandchildren, Taylor Mixon, Christian Mixon, Matthew Harrelson all of Claxton, Ga.; three brothers, David (Denise) Phillips of Ocala, Fl. and Chuck (Erin) Burnsed of Jacksonville, Fl., and Billy Edge of Hazelhurst; four sisters, Sadie (Tony) Cook Tallahassee, Fl., Windy (Dal) Durden of Swainsboro, Ga., Regina Vidricksen of Ok., and Cindy (Junior) Sellers of Hazlehurst, Ga.; along with several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 1-3 pm at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE OBSERVED DURING THE VISITATION AND CHAPEL SERVICE, DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. MASKS ARE NOT REQUIRED BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
FUNERAL: Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 3 pm at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
BURIAL: Brewton Cemetery.
