OBITUARY
CLAXTON: Delorease Middleton Parker, 97, passed away at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. She was a native of Long County, Georgia and lived most of her adult life in Claxton. She a member of the First United Methodist Church in Claxton.
She met her husband of 58 years, Albert Parker, and married on his 21st birthday in 1937. They lived in Claxton and became the owners of The Claxton Bakery. They were avid supporters of Epworth Methodist Center by the Sea and Andrew College. Also, the couple became very instrumental in the founding and supporting of
Pinewood Christian Academy.
Mrs. Parker received two Honorary Pins from the United Methodist Women for her lifetime membership and served as past president. She was the first chairwoman selected by the Evans County Recreation Commission. She enjoyed being involved with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary and Women’s Society of Christian Service.
Mrs. Parker was preceded by her husband and a baby son, Charles David.
SURVIVORS: three sons, Mid (Sally) Parker, Paul (Jane) Parker and Dale (Janis) Parker, all of Claxton; one daughter, Betty (Tab) Smith of Claxton; ten grandchildren, Angie (Joe) Miller, Kelly (Keith) Miller, Kathy (Rick) Wilbanks, Jenny (Steve) Chapman, Al (Cindy) Parker, Ginny (Patrick) Rice, Alice (Stephen) Silver, Paula (Paul) Claxton, Will (Anna) Parker and Abe (Lacy) Parker; 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: Saturday afternoon (Dec. 27) from 5-7:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church and Sunday (Dec. 28) 1:30-3:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church.
FUNERAL: Sunday, December 28, 2014, 3:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church.
BURIAL: Brewton Cemetery, Hagan, GA.
PALLBEARERS: Will Parker, Abe Parker, Al Parker, Stephen Silver, Paul Claxton, Joe Miller, Keith Miller, Rick Wilbanks, Steve Chapman and Patrick Rice.
