CLAXTON: Dennis C. Drake, 91, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord on August 9, 2015. He was a native of Toombs County and passed at East Georgia Regional Hospital in Statesboro. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and a Veteran of WWII. In 1985 he retired from Central Truck Lines in Atlanta and relocated to Claxton. His greatest joy in life was his Lord, Jesus Christ, and spending time with his family. Also, he enjoyed traveling and for over 50 years he especially enjoyed his army reunion.
SURVIORS: his wife, Vydene Sapp Drake of Claxton; three sons, Carl Drake of Lake Butler, FL., Greg (Rena) Drake of Lake City, FL., and Colquitt (Michele) Thompson of Dahlonega, GA; two daughters, Claudia West of Stockbridge, GA., and Denise (Mike) Willis of Lake Butler, FL; his grandchildren, Nicole, Trey, Whitney, Dillon, Loren, Kendyl, Luke, Sidney, Ashley and Austin; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
