OBITUARY
CLAXTON: Emma Neoline Bobbitt Daniel or “Bobbie” to her family and friends, age 95 of Claxton, GA went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro surrounded by her family.
Bobbie was born December 14, 1918 in Dublin, GA to James Carey Bobbitt, Sr. and Victoria Jones Haskins Bobbitt. After growing up in the Dublin and Vidalia areas and attending Vidalia High School, Bobbie attended the Women’s College of Georgia (now Georgia College) in Milledgeville, GA where she earned a degree in Home Economics. After teaching school in Ludowici, GA. Bobbie moved to Claxton where she taught school and later worked as the Evans County Home Economist with the UGA Extension Service.
Shortly after moving to Claxton, Bobbie met and married James Harold Daniel of the Bay Branch Community on March 7, 1948 in Vidalia, GA. It was here in Claxton that Bobbie and Harold made their home and raised their two children Joan and James Harold Jr (Jim). Later, Bobbie worked for the Department of Family and Children Services and for Dr. Curtis Hames’ Hypertension Research Clinic in Claxton.
Bobbie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family and truly enjoyed her time with them. She was also an active member of the Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church where she was a great example and inspiration to many others.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold of over 40 years and six brothers and sisters: Will Thomas Bobbitt of Dublin, Mable Ray of Gray, James Carey Bobbitt of Macon, Lamar Bobbitt of Vidalia, Nancy June Rudessell of Augusta and Elizabeth Bobbitt of Dublin.
SURVIORS: daughter Joan Daniel Harper and husband Walt of Martinez, GA.; her son Jim and wife Pam of Claxton; three grandchildren, James Justin Daniel and wife Kristen of Claxton, Christy Lynn Daniel Dixon and husband Daniel of Claxton; and Emily Danielle Harper of Martinez, GA.; three great-grandchildren, Nora Abigail Daniel, James Whitfield Daniel and Naomi Anne Daniel all of Claxton.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 pm Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home
