CLAXTON: Nell Sikes Surrency, 90, passed away March 22, 2016, at The Griffin House in Claxton. The Evans County native was a graduate of the 1944 class of CHS. She lived in Columbus, OH., for 28 years before moving back to Evans County. She worked at Evans Memorial Hospital until retirement and then served as a volunteer for several years. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Surrency, her parents, Frank and Pearl Sikes and eight brothers and sisters.
SURVIVORS: one son, Steven Franklin Surrency of Columbus, OH; two daughters, Nancy J. Roberts and Susan McGuire, both of Claxton; one sisters, Alene Moore, of Claxton; eight grandchildren and three great-grands; and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: Friday, March 25, 2016, 10-11:00 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Friday, March 25, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
