CLAXTON: Frances Daughtrey Moore Paulk passed away Friday, September 11, 2015, at the age of 87. Born May 17, 1928 in Willacoochee, Georgia, Mrs. Paulk lived most of her adult life in Claxton. She was married to her high school sweetheart, James Hiram Paulk, who preceded her in death.
One of eight children, Mrs. Paulk was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Henry Moore of Willacoochee. She was a graduate of Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where she was a member of the Berry College Choir. After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught for several years at the Bellville School.
Mrs. Paulk was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Claxton for over fifty years, having served as a “Kitchen Disciple” for the past twenty-five years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Corrine Adams Group for over five decades and was honored with a United Methodist Women’s lifetime membership pin. In addition to being a member of the Service Sunday School Class, Mrs. Paulk was also a past supporter of the Relay for Life program, an active patron of Pinewood Christian Academy, and a volunteer worker in the First United Methodist Church’s Vacation Bible School. For many years, she enjoyed being a part of a group of local ladies who took monthly social day trips.
SURVIVORS: One of the true joys of Mrs. Paulk’s life was her family, all of whom experienced her love and influence in ways that will leave indelible marks on their lives. She is survived by two daughters, Janis (Dale) Parker and Jeanna (Milton) Kennedy, both of Claxton. She took immense pride in her four grandchildren, William Dale (Anna) Parker, Jr., James Albert (Lacy) Parker, Jami Marie (Barrett) Baxter, and Jessica Frances (Ellis) Durrence. Great-grandchildren include William Dale Parker III, Isabella James Parker, Emmaline Marie Baxter, Wren Massey Parker, Amelia Ann Baxter, and Ellanore Frances Durrence.
FUNERAL: Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Claxton with Rev. Wayne DeFore officiating. Interment followed the service at Willacoochee City Cemetery.
