OBITUARY
CLAXTON: Geraldine Beasley Beegle, 92 of Palmetto passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013. She was born in Claxton, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Neal Beasley. In Addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Dilworth, Delmas and Daldon Beasley and daughter, Barbara Beegle Lambert.
She graduated from Georgia Southern State College and taught school in Evans County before embarking on an adventurous journey as an Air Force career wife. Living in places as varied as Florida, California, and Nebraska, she raised her three children mainly in Nebraska. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, with her newly retired husband, she was an avid bridge player, earning Master’s points and loved to walk and exercise. She and her husband moved to Palmetto to a small farm to spend the rest of their retirement years. There she walked daily, as much as 5 miles. She could be seen often with big hat, gloves and long sleeves, walking and waving to everyone that passed who knew her as a regular fixture. Being a breast cancer survivor, she entered many of the Races for the Cure with many members of her family walking with her. She also walked/ran the Peachtree Road Race, being one of the oldest at 85 years of age.
Traveling extensively was another passion. She and her husband visited every state in the US and many countries in Europe, the Orient and South America.
SURVIVORES: her husband of 68 years, Ret. Col Philip H Beegle, sons Philip H Beegle, Jr. (Ann), Rodney Neal Beegle, (Rita) son-in-law Jerry Lambert; one brother Daniel (Faye) Beasley of Hinesville; grandsons Philip H Beegle lll (Jennifer), Brian Lee Beegle, Kevin Jackson Beegle, Morgan Chase Lambert , Austin Taylor Lambert and great-grandson Philip H Beegle lV; sisters-in-law Anne Beasley, Carrie Beasley both of Claxton.
VISITATION: Friday, September 20, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home
FUNERAL: September 20, 2013 2:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home
Burial: Sikes Chapel Cemetery
