CLAXTON: James H. Waters, 82, passed away December 18, 2016, at Candler Hospital in Savannah.
He was born in Evans County and attended Evans County Public Schools. He was a member of the Claxton First United Methodist Church. He was Past Master of Ezel Lodge No. 335 F & AM. Past Worthy Patron of the Martha Washington Chapter No. 300 of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Alee Shrine Temple Director’s Staff and Claxton Shrine Club. He served on the City Council of Claxton and served as Mayor Pro Tem. He was a member of the American Legion and President of the Claxton Lions Club. James served in Korea with the U.S. Army. He was a loving, wonderful man that was always there when needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Foy and Ruth Waters, brothers, Ray and Thurman Waters, son, Albert (Al) Waters, daughter, Sheila Lowe and sister-in-law, Lyndel Waters.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Dorothy M. Waters of Claxton; daughters, Jamie (Brad) Usry of Evans, GA, Alma(Sissy) (Allen) Hobbs of Martinez, GA, Emilie (Ralph) Bowles of Sylvania, GA, and Penny (Ray) Salter of Ludowici, GA; sons, Andrew(Andy) Waters, (fiance’ Lavonna) of Waynesboro, GA., and Steven Luciano of Port St. Lucie, FL; son-in-law, Steve Lowe of North Augusta, S.C.; sister-in-law, Linda Waters of Savannah; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: Wednesday, December 21, 2016, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church.
FUNERAL: Wednesday, December 21, 2016, 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne DeFore and Rev. Mike Lyons officiating.
BURIAL: Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS: grandsons, David F. McGill, Joshua H. Bowles, Albert M. Waters, Christopher J. Lamberth, Dale B. Usry and Justin R. Usry.
