Jeannie Sheffield Mitchell

ELLABELL: Jeannie Sheffield Mitchell, 56, won the race on November 16, 2024, after a courageous five-year fight with cancer.

Jeannie diligently served her community as our beloved local mail carrier for more than twenty-five years. She attended and was recently baptized at Scarboro Baptist Church. She was her family’s biggest fan and never missed the opportunity to watch her son, Rick, play baseball from t-ball through middle school, high school, and college, and during his time playing with the Savannah Bananas.

Jeannie was a treasured wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. Throughout life, she sustained an encouraging spirit, and positive attitude, even as she endured her battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Janie Harn Sheffield.

SURVIVORS: husband of thirty years, Rick Mitchell of Ellabell, Ga.; sons, Rick Jr. (Maci) Mitchell, and Zack Mitchell; grandson, Kane Mitchell; sister, Jackie (Jerry) Taylor; nephews, Zack (Kassey) Taylor, Blake (Kinsey) Taylor, and Trey Taylor (Maddie Dills); great-niece, Addie Grace Taylor; aunt, Ruth (Perry) Hearn; beloved pets, Beamer and Georgia; as well as many friends.

VISITATION: Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: Wednesday, November 20, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chaple.

BURIAL: Brewton Cemetery.
