OBITUARY
CLAXTON: Jerry Denton, 73, passed away on December 13, 2014 at Carl Vinson VAMC in Dublin, Georgia. He was born in Evans County on February 23, 1941 to the sweetest parents, Leona Hammock and Jessie C. Denton. He was a member of New Vision Baptist Church and served his country with honor in the Vietnam War. He received two Purple Hearts and a Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars. He was a carpenter by trade, and his passion was woodworking and cabinetry. He started his first cabinet business when he was a young man in his twenties, working out of a small house in Hagan, Georgia. He then moved to Orlando, Florida, and started Denton’s Custom Cabinets with his brother Don. He moved back to Evans County in 1989 and ran the business of Kustom Cabinets. He was known as the “Cabinet Genius.” He always had a smile for everyone, and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Ryan Stewart.
SURVIORS: wife of 36 years, Sherry Boles Denton; three sons, Carl (Tina) Denton of Perry Florida, Clint Denton of Claxton, Georgia, and Justin (Heather) Denton of Claxton, Georgia; two daughters, Michelle (Mark) Stewart of Tifton, Georgia, and Dee Dee (Stanley) Boothe of Winter Garden, Florida; one brother Don (Anna) Denton of Orlando, Florida; one sister Marcia Gillenwater of Claxton, Georgia. He was the proud Papa of fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and he was blessed with several cousins and nieces and nephews.
