Bellville: Lawton H. Rogers, 87, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Tattnall County, his parents, J. Leroy and Mary Lizzie McCord Rogers. He spent his entire life in Bellville, while farming until the early 1970’s when he went to work for O. H. Daniel Lumber Company for over 20 years. He was WWII Veteran. After retiring he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and sharing vegetables from his garden. He was a member of Sikes Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred S. Rogers; his parents; a brother, Charles Edwin Rogers; and a sister, Edna Stegin Hartley.
SURVIVORS: three daughters and son-in-laws: Sandy Rogers, Nancy and Jimmy Williamson all of Bellville and Patty and Kenny Norman of Savannah; four grandchildren: Brandy (Chris) White and Laura Williamson all of Statesboro; Shaun and Heather Norman of Savannah; two great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Mia White of Statesboro; three Sisters: Sue Smith Dobbins and Ann Crapo both of Tenn., Janie Prosser of MD; brother: Rommie (Gloria) Thompson of Bellville; six
sister-in-laws: Margaret Paulin, Jackie Murray, Mary Sapp, Hilda Sapp, Sarah Sapp and Evelyn K. Rogers.
VISITATION: Friday, August 2, 2013, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Saturday, August 3, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Chapel.
