BELLVILLE: Retired U.S. Army Staff Sargent Leon Claire Scott II departed this world early Friday morning 20 December 2024 at the age of 78, leaving behind decades of musical memories that will echo in the hearts of his loved ones and all who had the privilege to know him. Born in the quaint town of Olean, New York, on September 16, 1946, he grew into a remarkable man whose commitment to service and dedication to family defined his extraordinary life. Leon embarked on a distinguished military career, proudly serving for 20 years in the United States Army. He deployed to Vietnam earning him the Vietnam Campaign Medal as well as the Army Commendation Medal. Leon served both overseas in Germany and various bases stateside, during which he exemplified courage and leadership that earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and subordinates alike. Leon exemplified the qualities of honor and duty that are the bedrock of our nation's armed forces. Leon was privileged to share his journey with his devoted wife, Barbara (Bellion), whom he cherished for fifty-six years in Springhill, Florida. Their enduring partnership was one built on mutual respect, love, and unwavering support, serving as a testament to the power of companionship. Together, they nurtured a family that he was immensely proud of, leaving behind a legacy through his son, Leon C. Scott III (Cari) of Crestview, Florida; three daughters, Jennifer Bozeman (Robert) of Bellville, Georgia, Julie Partenheimer (Jurgen) of Michigan, and Mandy Eliopoulos (Greg) of Springhill, Florida; as well as two siblings-Tom Scott, Lake Placid, Florida and Steve Scott, Cuba, New York. Additionally Leon adored his six grandchildren; Ashley, Zach, Scotty, Christina, Aryanna, and Jacob, and his two great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Gary who will forever be touched by his wisdom and love. Leon was preceded in death by his father, Leon Claire Scott, his mother Patricia Scott, and brother Duane Scott (Vietnam) who lovingly guided his early years and instilled in him the values that he carried throughout his life. His passing is a profound loss, yet his spirit and accomplishments will forever inspire those he leaves behind.
