OBITUARY
CLAXTON: Mrs. Lillian Smith, 87, passed away October 27, 2014 at NorthSpring Assisted Living. She was born in Toombs County, Georgia. She moved to Claxton, Georgia in 1946 and worked at Southern Bell Telephone Co. for several years. She worked at Evans Concrete for 27 years as Credit Manager and Dispatcher and served on the Board of Directors.
Mrs. Lillian was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Claxton. She served as a Trustee and was the first woman to be elected to serve as a Deacon. She was a faithful member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
She was a former member and past president of the Claxton Business and Professional Women’s Club and was selected as Woman of Achievement in 1983. She was a past Commissioner on the Board of the Claxton Housing Authority. She was a past member and first woman president (1981-82) of the Claxton-Evans County Chamber of Commerce. She was a past member and former board member of Evans Heights Golf Club. She was the Women’s Golf Club Champion for several years. She loved playing golf and fishing.
Mrs. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, L. C. Smith, Jr.; parents, Sidney W. Smith, Sr. and Lillie Jones Smith; two brothers, Roy T. Smith and S.W. Smith, Jr.; two sisters, Johnnie Will Todd and Carrie Boyd; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Smith.
Survivors: Daughter and Son-in law, Janet S. and Marvin Davis of Claxton; brother, Bedford Smith of Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Ninna Smith of Richmond, VA.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Barbara Smith of Warner Robins. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive; as well as her family of staff and residents at NorthSpring Senior Living, special caregiver Dorothy Miller.

FUNERAL: Thursday, October 30, 2014 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Claxton.
