OBITUARY
CLAXTON: Mrs. Lois “Stevie” Tippins, 88, formerly of Claxton, passed away on July 20, 2014, at The Country Cottage Assisted Living, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Evans County, Georgia, she was the only child of Colon and Mattie Lou Barrow, also of Claxton. She was happily married for over fifty years to Henry M. Tippins. Together they raised their family of four children.
Stevie was a homemaker who loved cooking, sewing and taking care of her family. When her husband retired they moved back to Augusta, Georgia, where he preceded her in death. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church, Evans, Georgia.
SURVIORS: her four children, Brenda “Tippy” McConnell of Lawrenceburg, TN, Henry “Buzzy” Tippins of Ruskin, FL, Pamela Lindsey of Franklin, TN and Sheila Uselton of Nashville, TN; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: Friday, July 25th, 9:30-11:00 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Friday, July 25th, 11:00 a.m., immediately following the visitation.
BURIAL: Brewton Cemetery, Hagan, Georgia.
REMEMBRANCE: Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
