Margaret Brogdon Lanier Stanfield

Margaret Brogdon Lanier Stanfield – born August 30, 1945 in Metter, GA, departed this life on September 26, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. She was raised in Candler and Bulloch Counties, but lived in Claxton, GA most of her adult life. Margaret retired from Ithaca Manufacturing Company where she worked as a seamstress, but her most important and best accomplished job throughout her life was being a devoted mother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she loved the outdoors. Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Fair Brogdon, Sr., mother, Essie Mae Cochran; sister, Leila Odom; husbands Roger G. Lanier, Sr. and Larry Stanfield; son, Robert Gregory Lanier; daughter-in-law, Nancy Vaughn Lanier; and grandson, Kyler Allen Stanfield.



Margaret leaves behind her children, Roger Gilbert Lanier, Jr. of Cadwell; Ronnie Glenn (Sonya) Lanier of Claxton, Renee (Joe) Howell and Joseph Stanfield, all of Ellabell; Jeffery (Jackie) Stanfield of Warner Robbins; and Allen (Lori) Stanfield of Claxton. She is also survived by her sisters, Deborah Sammons and Mary Ann Morris; brothers Arthur “Buddy” (Pat) Brogdon, Jr., Larry (Patsy) Brogdon, Phillip Brogdon, Ronnie (Ruthie) Brogdon, Ricky Brogdon, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her special pet poodle, Lucie.



Pallbearers are Jason Morris, Justin Brogdon, Daniel Brogdon, Kristopher Fitch, Pete Phillips, and Glenn Lanier.



Visitation will be Sunday, September 28 from 5 – 7 pm at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home, Claxton, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Monday, September 29 at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home with interment following at Brewton Cemetery in Hagan, GA.



Remembrances may be made to Evans County C.A.R.E.S. or Ogeechee Area Hospice.
