CLAXTON: Mary Ann Lee, 82 of Claxton, went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, February 8. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Geneva Lee and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She had previously helped at Kid Zone Daycare and was lovingly referred to, by most, as “Aunt May”. She loved animals, especially her cat and companion, Gracie, watching Westerns on TV and spending time with her family and close friends. Her heart and her ministry was calling the sick, shut-ins, and those who were recovering from surgery, to check up on them.
She was preceded in death by her great niece, Maria C. Hodges, Statesboro.
SURVIVORS: Surviving are her two sisters, Doris (Harry) Cannon, Claxton, and Myrtle (James) Freeman, Oklahoma. One niece, Jenny (Trey) Price, Claxton, One nephew-in-law, Les (Amy) Hodges, Statesboro, 4 great nieces, Anslee Price, Claxton, McKezie Hodges, LesLee Hodges, and Madison Taylor, all of Statesboro, and one great nephew, Walter Price, Japan
VISITATION: The family received friends for visitation Tuesday, February 11, from 5:00-7:00 at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Funeral services for Mary Ann will be held on Wednesday, February 12 at 11:00 at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home. Pastor Matt C. Brady will officiate the service.
BURIAL: Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church in Claxton.
PALLBEARERS: Trey Price, Les Hodges, Dean Cameron, Neal Hammack, Steve Smith, Danny Livingston and Edward Ogesbee.
