OBITUARY
CLAXTON: Melrose Akins Callaway, age 88, passed away Friday, November 21, at EGRMC after a short illness. She was a native of Evans County and lived at Gentilly Gardens Assisted Living in Statesboro for the past year. She was the daughter of the late Tellie and Northa Bell McCorkle Akins. She was preceded in death by her husbands William Elmore (W.E.) Callaway, Sr., William T (Billy) DeLoach, and Joseph P Riggs, her sister Cleo Elizabeth Akins Lewis, and a son Arthur Deason Callaway.
SURVIORS: Five children Rose (Jack Reynolds) Callaway, Bill (Karen) Callaway, Martha (John Wilda) Thrift, Bette (Joe) Neville, and Tellie (Teresa) Callaway. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Tiffany (Scott) Courdin, James (Jean) Hodges, Misty (Derwood) Lupton, Bobi DeLoach, Kelly (Kristin) Thrift, Wilda P Thrift, Michael (Sloane) Clark, Charesse Clark, Kristin (Danny) Key, Kathryn Neville, M.E. (Drew) Foskey, Trey (Elise) Neville, Anslie Callaway, Andrew (Hillary) Callaway. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and a close cousin Sybil Plemmons.
VISITATION: Saturday, November 22, 5–8 p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Sunday, November 23, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at Sikes Chapel United Methodist Church.
PALLBEARERS will be grandsons Kelly Thrift, James Hodges, Michael Clark, Trey Neville, Wilda P Thrift, Andrew Callaway, and Cal DeLoach.
