Rebecca (Beck) Powell Downs

SAVANNAH/CLAXTON: Rebecca (Beck) Powell Downs, 73, passed away July 15, 2013, after a long illness. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Claxton and a native of Evans County. She graduated from Georgia Southern and taught school. She then traveled with her husband, who was in the construction business.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Stella Powell.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Jerry L. Downs of Savannah; one son, C.W. Blocker of Newington, S.C.; one stepson, Kevin Downs of Savannah; one brother, John W. Powell of LA; grandchildren, Michael Blocker of Aiken, S.C.; Brittney and Matthew Downs of Savannah and one niece and two nephews.
VISITATION: July 17, 2013, 1-3:00 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home in Claxton, GA.
FUNERAL: July 17, 2013, 3:00 p.m., grave side at Daniel-Smith-Tippins Cemetery in Bellville, GA.
