CLAXTON: Robert Tucker Jernigan, 76, passed away Thursday, September 8th, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia. Robert was born in Adabelle, Georgia, but lived much of his life in Palatka, Florida. In 1958, he joined the U.S. Army and worked as a military policeman. He served for six years and was honorably discharged in 1964. He returned to Claxton about 1975 and stayed to retire from The City of Claxton Water Department several years ago. He is a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Claxton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Ada Lou Jernigan, brother, Ollie Jernigan and son, Robbie Jernigan.
SURVIVORS: his wife of 53 years, Kitty Jernigan of Claxton; daughter, Tracy Kennedy; son, Johnny Jernigan; step-sons, Steven Ricketson and James “Buddy” Ricketson; step-daughters, Pam Swope and Becki Jo Kellen Leno; sister, Elizabeth Wilkinson; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Saturday, September 17th, 10:00 a.m., at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery, 5250 GA Hwy 129, Cobbtown, GA., 30420.
