SAVANNAH / CLAXTON: Robert E. (Bob) Wilensky passed away peacefully at home Monday, March 28.
He was born June 6, 1926 in Easton, PA to William T. and Helen Wilensky and moved with his family to Savannah, GA in 1936. He married Mary Angela (Ann) Tippins on January 5, 1947 and together they raised a family on Whitemarsh Island. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and enjoyed a long career as a machinist, marine engineer and successful entrepreneur in the marine industry. He was a highly skilled craftsman who enjoyed his work and had many good friends both in and out of the marine industry. He was a long time member of Alee Shrine Temple in Savannah, GA.
Bob was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Ann, and is survived by a large, loving family that includes his sister Janet Lyso of Sioux Falls, SD and brother-in-law Bill J. Tippins (Carolyn) of Columbia, SC.
Bob and Ann are survived by their children, Robert Wilensky (Dianne), Kathleen Giron (Ronnie), Susan Thompson (Steve Lewis), Lynda Beebe, and David Wilensky (Colleen). They have nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Claire Wilensky, Robert H. Wilensky (Amie), William D. Atherton (Beth), Sara Knight, Bryan N. Thompson (Christa), Angela Folkers (Daniel), Amanda Edge (Michael), Erin Caldwell (Mac), Katie Wilensky, Susanne Knight, Alexandra Creel, Avery, Reagan, and Piper Wilensky.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 2 at 11:00 a.m. in Sands Field Cemetery in Daisy, GA. Reverend Tab Smith will officiate.
