CLAXTON: Shirley Cameron West, 80, of Claxton went home to her Lord and Savior Thursday, February 16, 2017, at her home.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She retired from years of nursing in 2012. She was an active member of Evergreen Baptist Church. Shirley was loved by everyone for her sweet, caring nature.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rubye Cameron, her husband of 59 years, Howard West, and their infant twin sons, a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Curtis Gordon, and brother-in-law, J.T. Creasey.
SURVIVORS: her daughter, Teri West (Patrick) Gary of Savannah; one granddaughter, Meloni Walker (Michael) Hutcheson of Claxton; one grandson, Robert Wayne (Shelley) Kight, II, of Jacksonville, FL.; eight great-grandchildren, Dalton Hutcheson, Myah, Andrew, Dylan, Madison and Kelsey Walker, Kingston Miller and Sadie Kight; a sister, Marion Creasey of Statesboro; two brothers-in-law, Carlton (Ruth) West of Savannah and Wendell (Joan) West of Metter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
VISITATION: Tuesday, February 21, 2017, 5-7:00 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Wednesday, February 22, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Evergreen Baptist Church.
BURIAL: Evergreen Baptist Church cemetery.
