OBITUARY
CLAXTON: William Harold Hayes, 80, passed away April 26, 2015 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, Ga. a long time resident of Ellijay, Ga. Bill Hayes served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957. He was a graduate of Ga. Tech University. Bill retired from Western Electric after 37 years of service. Bill never married and had children of his own but helped raise and put eight to ten kids through school and help them get jobs. His nephew Kenneth Hayes was just one of those kids and Bill treated and loved him as if he was his own son. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Jason Hayes, his mother, Annie Odessa Coley, his brothers; Johnny D. Holland, Lewis E. Hayes, James R. Hayes, Jack Persall and a sister; Ruby Lee Fail.
SURVIORS: brothers; Pete Hayes, of Claxton, Charles Hayes, of Tallahassee, Fl., Jerrel Hayes, of West Palm Beach, Fl.; Sisters; Bonnie Crews, and Annie Smith both of Live Oak Fl. and Hilda Edmondson of Jacksonville, Fl.; twenty eight nieces and nephews, forty two great nieces and nephews, nineteen great-great nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: Wednesday, April 29, 2015 10:00a.m. - 11:00 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Wednesday, April 29, 2015 11:00a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Marcus Dukes officiating.
