OBITUARY
CLAXTON- DUNWOODY: William Alexander Rogers, 87, passed away May 23, 2015 at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta GA. He was born in Claxton, Georgia to William Alexander Rogers and Josie Mae Rogers, the sheriff of Evans County. After high school he served in WWII, and then moved to Savannah, GA., Where he worked as an engineer for the Seaboard Coastline Railroad operating the Jesup switch engine from Jesup to Jacksonville, Florida. In 1966 he continued his career with the railroad working for the Federal Railroad Administration as a safety inspector in Cleveland, Ohio. He then transferred to Birmingham, Alabama before finally settling in Atlanta where he headed the Federal Railroad Administration Office there. Dub retired in the mid-nineties to his home in Dunwoody, Georgia. During his later years he enjoyed taking care of the family farm in Glennville fishing and watching sports.
SURVIORS: Wife; Mary Ellen Rogers of Dunwoody Ga, son; William Ashmore Rogers of Decatur Georgia, cousins; Jack, Faye, Joe, John Edwards, Alex, Jesse and Mac Haile.
VISITATION: Tuesday, May 26, 2015, 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Wednesday, May 27, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.
